KARUNGU St Camilus Hospital and Orphanage
The Jacaranda is supporting a new project to help children and young people of Kenya responsibly. Would you do it too?
Following the implementation of Jacaranda Nursery and Primary School, the Jacaranda Beach Resort is pleased to share with their guests the success of the initiatives undertaken in the interests of the local community . The school , for which the Jacaranda donated 1 € per night resort, located in ' rural area of Jikoka Jimba Kanani , near the resort . It is a social reality of inestimable value , which can provide education completely free of approximately 400 pupils between the ages of 5 and 12 years. The success of this project has been for us a point of arrival , but an essential step on the road of solidarity that always runs parallel to our business growth.

The trip and the holiday represent, at any age, an opportunity for personal growth that renews itself in unexpected forms and always different, extraordinary enrichment that requires faculty to be fulfilled such as observation, understanding and sharing of languages, customs and experiences so far away geographically as well as culturally . The Jacaranda Beach Resort invites you to take the first steps in a land that you can hardly forget. Simply close your eyes and inhale deeply to feel the smell hot, dusty and musky Africa, the acrid smell of moisture that washes the air, the earth, the flowers ... And understand that you are given the opportunity to do your thing far more valuable than a memory of white sand : Kenya is an invitation to recognize the drive nostalgic invincible and that always leads man to meet each other, encapsulates the enthusiasm that moves and returns a ' new adventure , something that is waiting to be discovered as long as we find the time to look for it and the courage to launch out ... So you dye your garments the color of this land and live it guarding the assurance that if your infinite curiosity ... what is the infinite ' Africa will be able to offer you!

Solidarity as we understand it: a concrete and targeted support aimed at the most disadvantaged populations in the country, accompanied in their journey of growth and commitment transparent "culturally sustainable " by those who work genuinely to promote the autonomy and self-determination , along the way difficult but possible freedom from want. E ' in this spirit that we present the St. Camillus Mission Hospital and the Centre for orphans Dala Kiye Karungu : reality specimens of genuine commitment to both the culture itself to renew their energies , through the promotion of health and development projects capable to take into account the cultural particularities of who benefits .

ST . CAMILLUS MISSION HOSPITAL

Missionary Hospital

Karungu is a village which is situated at 1200 meters above sea level on the shores of Lake Victoria , on the border with Tanzania . The area is inhabited by the Luo tribe and is considered among the most deprived areas and with a rate of return lower than the country. The missionary hospital St. Camillus was founded in 1997 by the religious congregation of the Servants of the Sick ( Camilliani ) to assist the sick who pour in conditions of extreme need. Our mission involves an effort to promote access to quality care and to promote , in the community , the adoption of the behaviors necessary for the prevention of the most common disease states. The area is highly affected by AIDS ( about 37% of the population) and St. Camillus Hospital patients are welcomed and cared for by skilled and motivated people who work to soothe their pain and to combat the discrimination they suffer at ' the community. Imagine a healthy society where the marginalized , namely the sick , the poor, the widows, the elderly , orphans and people affected by AIDS , directly or indirectly , are recognized , healed and empowered to be relieved of their pain and suffering. Your help is supporting a fund that allows us to ensure that on a daily basis - in your name - medical assistance to the needy.

How undertake these " adoptions " economically  ?

A day of hospitalization with intensive care unit : 13 €

ST . Camilus DALA Kiye

Center for AIDS orphans in

The campaign to fight AIDS is concentrated in urban areas and does not reach the poor, often illiterate , living in rural areas of the country: the most affected by HIV infection . More than half of those infected live in Nyanza Province , which is the mission of St. Camillus .

It only takes one person in a family affected by the virus to influence for good the lives of other components that often are children and the elderly. There are approximately 1.9 million orphans in Kenya: the majority of them becomes a cause of ' AIDS. The Nyanza province ranks first in the number of orphans in Kenya : 499.99 . The ' AIDS is growing a generation of orphans , forced to fight every day to survive.

St. Camillus " Dala Kiye " in response to the specific needs of children affected by AIDS, provides them with adequate food , medical care , psychological support and provides them with an education. He created a model of family-house in addition to taking care of children in anti-retroviral therapy by responding to their material needs , educates them to take the drugs that will be neccessarie for the entire course of life. The program Dala Kiye has arisen as a result of a disconcerting situation experienced St. Camillus Hospital , where a large number of terminally ill patients with AIDS still die leaving their children alone . The number of deaths is increasing not only in the hospital , but also the entire community : the number of young people left to themselves is continuously increasing. These children have been and are still marginalized and destined for a life of desperate and insecure. This situation has prompted the Center for Orphans St. Camillus Dala Kiye to initiate in 2001 a restoration project and in July 2002 it was then registered with the Department of Social Services of the Migori District as an institution of charity and social care for children with and infected by AIDS.

The organization is non-profit and has no political tendencies in its initiatives . Its projects and programs depend on donations and material resources made available by the non-governmental organizations . The organization publishes economic reports with absolute reliability and transparency.
